Texas Longhorn heifers are females until they have their first calf and most breeders call young females raising their first calf “first calf heifers.” After that they become cows.
My heifers go on this page around weaning time and stay until they have delivered their first calf. This is the showcase of the future of my breeding program.

At Star Creek Ranch we vaccinate (including Brucellosis vaccinations “OCV”) and deworm on a regular schedule. We also measure horns regularly. I firmly believe measuring horns throughout a young animal’s life can give a good indication of what her future horn growth will be and that is very important to any breeder. I keep complete records on all my cattle.
When you buy a heifer from Star Creek Ranch you can do so with confidence in the future cow you will own. You will know her sire and dam and if she has been exposed, the name of the service sire also and if she is confirmed pregnant. You can see her medical history and her horn measurement history.
Everyone loves heifers and the promise they hold. Call me to set an appointment to come see the ones at Star Creek Ranch.
